All bear units have Spring and Fall Hunts. Some units have Premium Tags available. The spring hunts give the hunter and increased chance at getting a boar. Snow can make spring hunt access more difficult depending on the year. During the fall season in September the black bears are very active storing fat to prepare for winter.
Utah black Bear Hunting Seasons
There are now Utah Spot and Stalk hunts as well as a few Harvest Objective Units and seasons.
Spring Season: April 6-May 28, 2013.
Extended Spring Season: to June 2, 2013 on some units.
Fall Season: August 24-September 29, 2013 and November 1-November 20, 2013 on some units.
Utah Black Bear Hunting Rates
$1,000 for a 2 day hunt guided hunt (with hounds)
$1,000 Boar Trophy Fee
$500 Sow Trophy Fee
$500 Hunt Extension Per Day
(A successful 2 day guided hunt will cost the hunter either $1,500 or $2,000 depending on the trophy.)
Due to state law, all Utah hunts charge additional state tax.
